I'll be posting little bits of beauty each day of the Easter Octave and each Sunday following that. May you know new life, peace, and hope today, tomorrow, and forever.

Pray: Book of Common Prayer, Collect for Second Sunday in Easter

Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ’s Body may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

“This shelf hangs next to my work table and holds all my pigments and encaustic paints. It makes me happy. @a_sacramental_life is doing a practice resurrection series which I always enjoy and appreciate. Today she’s encouraging people to share color. I thought immediately of this spot and knew I wanted to share it. It took me a long time to love color in my work. In school I was afraid of it bc I didn’t understand it. I used a lot of natural materials in my sculpture and left it at that. But I’ve always loved wearing a lot of color, and a professor once pointed that out to me when I was declaring my distaste for color. I never took a painting class so I had to teach myself color theory, and it took a lot of experimentation to figure how what I wanted to do with it. I pull a lot of inspiration from the way color shows up in nature, and I now have my favorite tones and hues I gravitate toward. But what I love about color is that it’s always changing and offering endless exploration. And that’s because color is all about light. And light is everything. When Jesus says he is the light of the world, I like to think of how he changes every color, offering endless exploration and delight, as he rises over the horizon and illuminates our hearts.”
