read

Psalm 118:26-29 / Matthew 23:37-39

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

We bless you from the house of the Lord.

The Lord is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar!

You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you. Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! /

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!See, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

pray

Beloved friends, in this season of repentance and healing, we accept God's invitation to be ever-mindful of the needs of others, offering our prayers on behalf of God's community in the church and the world.

Include prayers here for your family, friends, neighborhood and the world

Fill us with your strength to resist the seductions of our foolish desires and the tempter's vain delights, that we may walk in obedience and righteousness, rejoicing in you with an upright heart. Amen.(source)

do

Today, spend some quiet moments in prayer. Ask God where He is weeping in your life and in the world and join Him there. It is never weakness to grieve where God is grieving.  While tears are not required in grief, boldly ask Him for the gift of tears as you grieve.(source: 40 Days of Decrease)
