All Saints Day: Ordinary Time Daybook for the Twenty-Second Sunday after Pentecost
Welcome to the weekly Ordinary Time Daybook devotional post for the 25 weeks between Pentecost and Advent. Ordinary Time is the longest season of the church calendar - a season of working and resting with Christ as he brings God's kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
You can read here for a brief description of the liturgical season of Ordinary Time.
All Saints Day arrives in the church calendar right about the time our fickle memories begin to forget such manner of keeping time even exists. Advent still a few weeks away, these two feast days invite us to begin remembering again.
If the Church year provides us a pathway through the life (and death and life again) of Jesus, then the Feast of All Saints reminds us we do not travel alone.

Pray: Book of Common Prayer 2019, Collect for All Saints' Day
Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical Body of your Son: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
Do: Listen to Malcolm Guite's sonnet for this day, and then read the words out loud on your own. All Saints.
Enjoy artist Sam Wedelich's Patron Saint series. Who in your life would you "nominate" for these categories? Who else in your life deserves "patron saint" status? We'd love to hear about it in the comments!
