Join Brian and me for a conversation + Palm Sunday

This post completes the forty days of Lent Daybook posts for 2020 and begins a week of guest posts for Holy Week. Would you read the stories with me, and listen with an open, prayerful heart?

Pray: Book of Common Prayer, Collect for Palm Sunday

Almighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and also share in his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Do:  Read Father, Forgive Them For They Know Not What They Do by Brian Murphy (written in 2015) and join Brian and me Monday night for a conversation about lament. We'll build this conversation around what we’ve learned throughout our own journies of lament over the past decade or so.

You can read some of what we’ve shared during Holy Week here, here, here, and here.

We'll host the conversation on Zoom at 8:15 pm (Eastern Time), April 6. You will need a password to join the conversation:

Jesus gave us a litany of last words as a Sufferer; we refer to them as the Seven Last Words of Christ. The deathbed words of the Suffering Servant provide a framework for the stories of lament I'll be sharing here this Holy Week.

For a variety of reasons, I'm shifting the typical direction of our Retrieve Lament series. I'll be sharing a combination of new posts and posts from the archives with some opportunities for live conversation and prayer in the mix. Don't miss the details below to join Brian and me in a conversation about lament as well as an update on his own journey of grief since sharing a guest post for Holy Week 2015.

Honestly, this is idea is evolving in real-time as I listen to God's direction and to the realities of our life right now. Please feel free to send me any suggestions or questions. I'm all ears!
