Then Jacob called his sons and said, ‘Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you what shall happen to you in days to come’...

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel. This is what their father said to them as he blessed them, blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.”

*

I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever;
with my mouth, I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.”

*

”Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.”

*

” And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, ‘He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.’
— Genesis 49:28 * Psalm 89:1 * 1 Corinthians 11:1 * Mark 7:37

* Monday - Thursday Scripture readings are taken from the Book of Common Prayer (Year 2). On Fridays, I'll include the Scripture readings for the upcoming Sunday which are taken from the Revised Common Lectionary (Year B).

prayer for today from Evening Prayers For Every Day of the Year by Christoph Friedrich Blumhardt :

I look for your deliverance, Lord. Genesis 49:18, NIV

Lord our God, help us in these days that are so difficult for us. Help us never to lose our expectation of the time that is to come, the time of Jesus Christ, Lord of heaven and earth. Strengthen us, we pray, and strengthen those all over the world who have to endure great suffering, especially the destitute and the dying. May your heavenly hosts come down to the many who are in misery, so that your name is praised in life and in death, in whatever we have to go through. For we shall praise you, no matter what happens now or in the days ahead. May your glory remain in our hearts, with the joy that you, O God, are the Father of all. Amen.

Spiritual practice for today:

This week, fast criticism. From the clerk moving slowly to the homeless vet on the streets, consider carefully that Jesus knows them by name. Today, seek to know more, assume less, and air prayers for Jesus' "least of these" boldly in the presence of your shared Father God. (source: 40 Days of Decrease)
