The sun of righteousness shall rise: Twenty-Third Sunday After Pentecost
Good news, friends! I wanted to clarify that as a Daybook Meditations member you will automatically be receiving the Advent Daybook posts in your email inbox each day of Advent.
You are, of course, welcome to purchase the .pdf as a supplement to your daily emails. Some folks like to have the “big picture” of the one-time download to accompany the daily posts and a few of you like to print the .pdf into a devotional booklet.
Because I’m so grateful for your companionship here all year, I’ve created a coupon code for you to purchase the .pdf at the previous sale price of $7. Just head to the Shop and enter ADVENTTHANKYOU on the payment page to get $3 off. Please feel free to use this code to purchase the .pdf for your friends as well.
Feel free to send any questions my way!
Tamara
Welcome to the weekly Ordinary Time Daybook devotional post for the 24 weeks between Pentecost and Advent. Ordinary Time is the longest season of the church calendar - a season of working and resting with Christ as he brings God's kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
You can read here for a brief description of the liturgical season of Ordinary Time.

PRAY: Collect for Twenty-Third Sunday After Pentecost, the Book of Common Prayer
Stir up, O Lord, the wills of your faithful people, that bringing forth in abundance the fruit of good works, they may be abundantly rewarded when our Savior Jesus Christ comes to restore all things; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
DO: Make space for healing prayer this week, preferably in the company of a trusted spiritual friend.
“The sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in his wings.” Have you ever heard of a more beautiful promise?
In the week leading up to Christmas, we’ll return to this stunning image as one of the O Antiphons of worship. Perhaps today you could sing this verse as a little foretaste of Advent:
Sing the fifth verse of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel as today's prayer:
O come, Thou Dayspring, from on high,
And cheer us by Thy drawing nigh;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
A few thoughts some friends and I have shared through the years about wholeness and healing in the Body of Christ
*Sunday Scripture readings are taken from Year C of the Book of Common Prayer 2019 (Anglican Church of North America). Daily Scripture readings are taken from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and include both Morning and Evening Psalms (Year 2)
